Wildlife and Avian artist Ian Griffiths’s web site showing a portfolio of his original bird paintings and wildlife paintings from watercolour sketches , detailed acrylics and impasto oils. The site also includes painting demonstrations, projects and travel sketches amongst other things. Commissions are considered as well as direct sales. From game birds to birds of prey in fact all birds, and other natural history subjects.
My web site isn't just about finished paintings but includes sketching in the field, bird sketches, field trips to Scotland, working with David Bellamy, Murals, travel sketches and i will be expanding all the time to include new artworks and projects for example I am working with the Wildlife trust, along with others such, to deliver a great annual exhibition of wildlife art to raise fund for the Wildlife trust in Cornwall. There is a link to my new site dedicated to Parrot paintings and I will be donation a third of sales to the World Parrot Trust to help with conservation and education projects worldwide.

I have been fortunate to have been selected again this year for the finals of the BBC Wildlife artists of the year in the category ‘Animals in their environment which I was fortunate to have won in 2011.
I have tried to create that feeling of looking skyward for Great Spotted woodpeckers using perspective and sunlight to lead the viewers eye towards the female woodpecker on the branch above. This painting has been 2 years in the planning and it reflects a lifetime of looking up trees trying to see birds in the up most branches.

I am delighted to have been selected to take part in the final of this prestigious completion again in the category ‘Animals in their environment. There were over 1200 entries now down to the last 120.
2012 will be a year when I will be focusing on commissions and new paintings and just a couple of general exhibitions, some years you need that time to create without too many deadlines.

I am exceptional honoured that I won the category ‘Animals in their environment’ will a painting of a Kingfisher. My painting of Spix macaw was also runner up in the world birds category. There are 13 winners out of 1300 entries which will be at an exhibition at Marwell zoo in August and feature in a special addition of the BBC wildlife magazine in August.
