Travel sketches

I will be displaying a small number of my sketches from around the world but for now I have just displayed a few.

I have sketched my travels abroad for the last 20 years and can recall the sounds, smells and situation when ever I look at my sketches but if I look at a photograph very rarely it stimulates me in this way. Sketching is the experience of being there. I use pencils, ink pens and watercolour for sketching. My travels were the 'backpacking' variety with the exception of a couple of free incentive trips to Rome, Venice, Cork, Barbados, etc. They were for the overall experience not just for the wildlife and in the main were with my brother Stuart who encouraged me to use my sketches as a way of recording the trips as I am not the type to keep a detailed diary.
