Measured drawings When I lived on the Yorkshire coast I used to get dead specimens on a regular basis from fellow birdwatches, the beach and road kills, this was back in the 80's. I don't know if it is because there are more enthusiasts and people making use of dead birds or there are less birds in general but I haven't acquired many specimens since moving to Cornwall. Maybe the success of the Buzzzard take care of them Even parts of a bird are invaluable to an artist and I try to prepare the specimen and also paint it for future reference. As mentioned previously I lost all my specimens, over a 100 species, plus many of my measured drawings. I had been given a Victorian collection one of those enormous glass cabinets. A few did survive and below are just a sample.
